A Day in the Life of a Detoxing Nutritionist
A detox is something I do once - twice a year as a means to flush the unavoidable toxins in our world today and to help revitalise my digestive system and energy levels (did you know the average Aussie has 3-5kg of toxic waste in their bowels?!).
My number one tip for weight loss
There’s no denying that weight loss is the most common goal of my clients. However most clients come in worrying about what foods they should be excluding/not eating to lose weight. I’ve heard everything from carbs, fat, sugar, alcohol, legumes, beans, dairy, red meat, all meat – you name it.
My top 5 flu-free essentials!
Let's be honest, the only good things about the flu or even a cold for that matter is a few days off work and an excuse to make people bring you mugs of hot tea! But we all know the flu isn't fun for anyone and although these below tips aren't a 100% guarantee to ward off the flu, you'll be putting your body at much less risk of catching it and if you do, then in you'll be in a better position to recover quicker.
5 tips to get you out of a food rut!
There's no denying that even if you feel you have a good relationship with food, it is not fine and dandy 100% of the time.
10 Desserts for when you're trying to quit sugar
There's no doubt about it, cutting out sugar is hard. If you read my blog post about sugar you will know that simply replacing refined sugar with unrefined sugar can mean your body will still crave sweet food, and let's be honest, cravings aren't fun for anyone!
Why 'hunger' is okay
We’ve all said it, thought it and complained about it….I’m huuuunnngrryyy!!! So many of us seem to have this fear of being hungry, but has it just become something that we fear because food is so widely available to us today or because we actually believe hunger is a bag thing?
Is a detox really healthy?
Now although I am not one to promote diets or labelled eating patterns, I personally do a detox every year and actually look forward to it after Winter because it is honestly like a natural version of a berroca, red bull and expresso martini all mixed into one...you really do feel that energised and amazing afterwards (note: afterwards :P).
Sugar - give it to me straight!
Ok, I’m going to be straight up with you here and hopefully give you everything you need to know about sugar in the one article - because it is not something we should be beating around the bush with!
Think you're healthy? Guess again!
Over the past few years the 'clean eating' phenomenon has really taken off and in some cases I'd say it's become more of a fashion statement than a way of life. Don't get me wrong, I love that so many people are embracing healthy eating, but my concern is that while some might be eating healthy, the other habits they have picked up along the way are not!
What do I eat?
I am writing this post because 1. I know everyone is fascinated to hear what a Nutritionist eats, and 2. To show that you do not have to have a particular way of eating that is the only way you will eat forever. Your nutrition should change depending on many lifestyle and environmental factors and will be different for each person and each stage in their life. Below is a summary of what my diet includes on a general basis, and why things are or aren’t included.
