Baked Nacho Pots
These Baked Nacho Pots have been an absolute winner with so many of my clients kids and I know there's nothing better than finding a meal that is healthy and will happily feed the whole family.
FAT Muesli with Vanilla Brazil Nut Milk
This breakfast is full of so many good fats it will have you feeling full and satisfied all morning. I think Omega-3 fats are on of the most important nutrients people should be trying to get more of in their diets. They are needed for brain development, transport of fat soluble vitamins, to help retain water, maintain cell resilience and reduce inflammation (the later two are particularly helpful at reducing skin ageing!).
Garlic Prawns with Charred Broccoli and Soba
Super easy but so delicious this recipe covers all the bases for a well balanced meal. Protein from the prawns, long lasting carbohydrates from the noodles (use buckwheat for gluten free), 3 different kinds of green vegetables, butter for healthy fats (buy a good organic kind or make your own), and some kim chi for fermented gut healing goodness.
Think you're healthy? Guess again!
Over the past few years the 'clean eating' phenomenon has really taken off and in some cases I'd say it's become more of a fashion statement than a way of life. Don't get me wrong, I love that so many people are embracing healthy eating, but my concern is that while some might be eating healthy, the other habits they have picked up along the way are not!
Roast Cauliflower, Fennel and Garlic Soup
I just can't get enough of soups at the moment! This one is thick and creamy and the smell of the roast garlic whilst in the oven just fills your whole house with most amazing aroma.
Caramalised Onion, Beetroot and Ricotta Pizza
Everyone loves pizza and the best ones are definitely home made! I've even converted some meat loving males to this pizza because it's just so damn delicious. And for all of my gluten free friends out there, rejoice; a pizza base that actually goes crunchy! The key to keeping pizzas a regular meal in your diet is to balance the meal by having half a pizza with extra salad on the side.
Chicken and Mushroom Pie
Comfort food is a must in Winter and as far as I'm concerned no salad is really hearty enough to take the place of a warming and nourishing pie. What I love most about this pie is the satisfaction after a long, cold day at work, when you bring the pie fresh out of the oven and can be confident it is just a delicious as it is healthy for you.
Green Smoothie Bowl
This smoothie bowl is particularly delicious and creamy thanks to the avocado full of healthy fats, fibre, vitamin K and folate and the cashew milk (you can use any other kind of milk too).
Body Booster Chicken Soup
It's that time of year when every second person you talk to is sniffling and complaining about their awful cold, while your standing there thinking - keep your distance people I don't want to get sick! Well here's a soup recipe that is so nourishing you can almost feel it instantly boosting your immune system.
What do I eat?
I am writing this post because 1. I know everyone is fascinated to hear what a Nutritionist eats, and 2. To show that you do not have to have a particular way of eating that is the only way you will eat forever. Your nutrition should change depending on many lifestyle and environmental factors and will be different for each person and each stage in their life. Below is a summary of what my diet includes on a general basis, and why things are or aren’t included.
